SUMMARY:6th Grade Cotillion Series at 5:30pm: Favorite Holiday!
DESCRIPTION:Registration for our Fall 2027 Cotillion Season opens on Monday\, November 9th\, 2026 at 9:00am. Exact Fall 2027 dates will be posted in late winter if not earlier. Be sure to review our refund policy ahead of time before registering. Thank you! \nBe sure to sign-up for our newsletter to get first notification of our cotillion registration and other etiquette events for students! \nOur 7th & 8th meet for a combined curriculum of etiquette topics and dance instruction. The topics and dances change every year for this group\, so that they are learning new things each season! Most events will be held on Saturday evenings\, but an Add-on Guided 4-Course Etiquette Dinner event could be on a Sunday evening due to restaurant availability. (Several dates will be available to select for this add-on dinner experience.) Please note this 7th & 8th grade combined group will either meet on Saturday evenings at 7:00pm or later at 8:30pm\, TBD\, so please keep the entire evening open when registering. \nThis is great for students that have completed our sixth grade cotillion program\, but it is also appropriate for brand new students to BRJC to join in the fun as well. We always have new students in grades 7th & 8th join us each season! New students are welcome! \nThe social skills students develop today will shape the relationships and opportunities they build tomorrow. At Bentonville-Rogers Junior Cotillion\, we want students to feel comfortable walking into a room\, meeting new people\, starting conversations\, and confidently navigating any social setting. We know that students need a fun and educational experience to practice these skills. These lessons go beyond learning etiquette: they build self-confidence\, encourage meaningful connections\, and teach students how to make others feel valued and included. \nThe BRJC Cotillion program not only empowers your teen with essential social skills\, but it also provides the opportunity to master ballroom and line dancing\, a key aspect of navigating formal events with grace and confidence. Whether it’s attending a family dinner\, a birthday party\, or their first job interview\, these skills will help your teen succeed in any setting.  \nIntroducing Yourself and Making a Lasting Impression:\nFirst impressions matter! A confident introduction can be the beginning of a great friendship\, connection\, or opportunity. Students will learn how to introduce themselves properly\, make comfortable eye contact\, offer a confident handshake when appropriate\, and use friendly body language. They will practice what to say when meeting someone new\, how to keep a conversation going\, and how to leave others with a positive impression. These are important skills that will serve them in school\, social settings\, interviews\, and throughout their future. \nThe Art of Extending an Invitation:\nInviting someone to join you for an event is a wonderful way to build friendships and make others feel included. Students will learn how to extend an invitation thoughtfully\, communicate important details\, and choose the appropriate way to invite someone. They will practice what to say\, how to make an invitation clear\, and why following through on plans and communicating graciously are important parts of being a good friend\, and will be important in all future social situations. \nBeing A Great Host:\nBeing a great host is about more than planning an event; it's about making others feel welcome\, comfortable\, and included. Students will learn how to greet guests\, make introductions help conversations get started\, and recognize the little details that make someone feel special. They will discover how thoughtfulness and consideration can turn an ordinary gathering into a wonderful experience for everyone. Mastering these skills will carry students from party planning now to navigating work related events with ease in the future. \nBeing a Great Guest:\nKnowing how to be a gracious guest is a skills students will use throughout their lives. Students will learn how to respond to invitations\, arrive prepared\, greet their host\, participate in activities\, and show appreciation for being included. We will discuss what it means to be considerate of others\, follow through on commitments and RSVPs\, and leave a positive impression whenever they go. \nNetworking: Making Connections\nMeeting new people and staring conversations are valuable skills that can open doors to new friendships and future opportunities. Through an interactive networking exercise\, students will practice introducing themselves\, asking thoughtful questions\, finding common interests\, and engaging in meaningful conversations. They will learn that networking isn't just for adults or business settings: it's about building connections\, showing genuine interest in others\, and feeling comfortable in new social situations. \nCell Phone Etiquette:\nCell phones are a part of everyday life but knowing when and how to use them appropriately is an important social skill. Students will explore appropriate phone use in different social settings\, learn when it's best to put their phones away\, and understand how distractions can affect the people around them. They will discover that being present\, making eye contact\, and giving others their attention are simple ways to show respect and build stronger connections.  \nPerfecting Table Manners: (Add-on event) Registration for one of our Guided Etiquette dinners will open for Cotillion members on the Monday following our first Fall Event. Details for registration for these dinners will be sent to Cotillion members in the summer of 2027. \nDinners are non-refundable or transferable to future dates\, so please check your calendars carefully before registering. Thanks!\nTable manners are an essential part of any social gathering\, and BRJC Cotillion will help your teen feel comfortable at any dining event\, whether casual or formal. We highly recommend each student attend an etiquette dinner each cotillion season. Our etiquette dinners are an add-on event and will have a separate cost from our cotillion tuition. Here’s a glimpse of what your teen will master at our special guided 4-course semi-formal dinner: \n\nProper Silverware Usage: Learning how to use each utensil correctly\, from the soup spoon to the dessert spoon\, and knowing which silverware to use for each course.\nNapkin Etiquette: The importance of using a napkin appropriately\, placing it on their lap\, when you need to leave the table\, and at the end of the meal.\nCourse Transitions: How to transition smoothly through multiple courses at a formal dinner\, including when to wait to start eating\, how to pace themselves\, and when it’s appropriate to engage in conversation.\nEating with Confidence: Tips for chewing with the mouth closed\, holding utensil properly and cutting food easily\, and handling food with ease to avoid any awkward moments during meals.\nGracious Dining Behavior: How to express gratitude to the host\, participate in conversations during dinner\, and use polite manners in any dining situation.\n\nBallroom and Line Dance Instruction:\nSocial dancing is a fun and vital part of the Cotillion experience\, providing your teen with the opportunity to build confidence\, teamwork\, and coordination while enjoying themselves on the dance floor. Here’s what they’ll learn: \n\nBallroom Dance Basics: Teens will learn the fundamentals of traditional ballroom and Latin dances\, including the Tango\, Mambo and Samba\, while also reviewing the Foxtrot\, Cha Cha Cha and Rumba. Please note this 7th & 8th grade combined group will either meet on Saturday evenings at 7:00pm or later at 8:30pm\, TBD\, so please keep the entire evening open when registering. Most events will be held on Saturday evenings\, but an Add-on Guided 4-Course Etiquette Dinner event could be on a Sunday evening due to restaurant availability. Please note this 7th & 8th grade combined group will either meet on Saturday evenings at 7:00pm or later at 8:30pm\, TBD\, so please keep the entire evening open when registering.
