College Prep Etiquette Success:
As parents, it's incredibly rewarding to guide our children through the college admissions journey, and our daughter’s experience is a perfect example of how early preparation and thoughtful planning can make all the difference. This success didn't happen by chance—it was the result of years of careful planning, hard work, and the development of both academic and life skills.
In today’s competitive college admissions landscape, students need more than just strong grades and test scores. They need to be well-prepared, confident, and capable of showcasing their unique strengths during interviews, essays, and scholarship applications. Our course is designed to give students the tools they need to succeed, from organizing their college search and application process to mastering interview skills and dining etiquette. These are all essential elements in preparing students for college and experiences beyond.
What Students Will Learn:
- Getting Organized: Effective time management and organization strategies to tackle everything from course selection to college tours and applications.
- Maximizing Interests and Talents: How to highlight your academic, extracurricular, and personal strengths in a way that sets you apart from other applicants.
- Test Prep and Strategy: Tips for preparing for standardized tests and navigating the complex world of college admissions testing.
- Soft Skills and Etiquette: Learn key life skills, including interview preparation and dining etiquette, with an instructional four-course dinner that prepares students for formal interviews and networking events.
- Building Confidence: A focus on the personal growth necessary to handle everything from writing standout essays to managing stressful interview situations.
Why This Course Matters:
The college application process can be overwhelming, especially when students are expected to juggle academic responsibilities, extracurricular activities, and family commitments. On top of that, many school counselors can only spend a few minutes per year with each student, typically only covering course selection rather than college planning. Our course bridges this gap by providing information so that students and families need to feel confident and well-prepared to start researching colleges by data and other ways for themselves.
College Planning -The Perfect Fit:
At the heart of this course is the belief that every student deserves to find a college that is the perfect academic and social fit for their goals, interests, and future aspirations—not just a school based on name recognition or rankings. We emphasize the importance of discussing finances, realistic expectations, and self-reflection so that students make choices that will support their long-term success and happiness.
The earlier students begin this process, the better equipped they’ll be to navigate the complexities of college admissions. We’ve seen firsthand how students who take this course not only gain practical skills but also develop a sense of ownership over their college journey, making the entire process less intimidating and more rewarding.
The Result:
“It’s been a joy to watch students transform their approach to the college admissions process after taking this course. They leave with a greater sense of confidence, purpose, and clarity, knowing exactly what steps to take next. They also gain a deeper understanding of the importance of presentation, communication, and personal growth—all essential to their success in college and beyond. Students have an appreciation for capturing and expanding their activities and extracurriculars after attending this course, and how to feel comfortable in any social setting, including mastering those fine dining skills.”
–Renee Swindell, College Prep Etiquette Program Director
For any student who is college-bound, this course is a must. The sooner they begin, the more time they’ll have to build the skills and confidence needed for a successful application process.

If requested, I will be more than happy to host an informal parent/student session over the summer.
We have found the combined parent and student session to be helpful, but know summer is busy!
A combined session is a great way for parents to help their student in this process of
researching colleges and choosing a great fit for their individual student's wants and needs.
Planning for college properly is a team approach and effort, and we are happy to help.
